Were You an AT&T Customer? You May Be Owed Money From a $177M Settlement

AT&T has agreed to a $177 million settlement after a 2021 data breach exposed sensitive customer information, including names, Social Security numbers, and dates of birth.

While the company denies wrongdoing, millions of customers may be eligible for compensation, and some could receive up to $7,500.

Who Qualifies for a Payment?

You may be eligible if:

  • You were an AT&T customer before January 2023.

  • Your data was compromised in the 2021 AT&T data breach.

  • You received a notification letter or email from AT&T or the settlement administrator (Kroll).

How Much Can You Receive?

  • Up to $7,500: If you provide proof of financial losses (fraud, stolen funds, fees, etc.).

  • $75 basic payment: For time spent dealing with the breach, no proof required.

  • 12 months free credit monitoring: Offered through Experian to all eligible users.

 

How to File Your Claim

  1. Visit www.ATTDataBreachSettlement.com

  2. Select “Submit a Claim.”

  3. Enter the unique ID number from your mailed or emailed notice.

  4. Choose your compensation option.

  5. Upload documentation if claiming actual losses.

  6. Submit before the October 30, 2025 deadline.

You may also mail in your claim, instructions are provided on the settlement site.

 

When Will Payments Be Sent?

  • Claims must be approved by the court.

  • Payments are expected to begin late 2025 or early 2026.

  • Amounts vary depending on claims and proof of losses.

 

Action step: If you were an AT&T customer, check your email or letter from AT&T and file your claim before October 30, 2025.
