Pensacola and Colorado Residents Reclaim Millions in Unclaimed Property as Inflation Soars

In the middle of inflation-driven financial stress, rising grocery bills, and growing rent prices, a surprising form of economic relief has landed for thousands of Americans—some are receiving checks from the government they didn’t even know were coming.

In Pensacola, Florida, over $1.3 million was returned in March through the Florida Division of Unclaimed Property, a government program designed to reunite people with lost financial assets like forgotten savings accounts, insurance proceeds, and uncashed checks.

Meanwhile, Colorado’s unclaimed property initiative disbursed a whopping $8 million through its Great Colorado Payback program, sending out preapproved checks to more than 12,000 residents—no application required.

These payouts couldn’t come at a better time, as millions of Americans are grappling with rising costs, tariffs, and increasing household expenses.

Florida’s Unclaimed Property by the Numbers

Statewide, Florida returned over $44 million in unclaimed property in March alone. Here’s how some major cities stacked up:

  • Miami: $9.8 million

  • Tampa/St. Pete: $8.61 million

  • Orlando: $8.54 million

  • West Palm Beach: $8.1 million

  • Fort Myers/Naples: $2.1 million

  • Jacksonville: $3.46 million

  • Tallahassee: $726,948

  • Panama City: $573,617

  • Pensacola: $1.32 million

These numbers highlight just how much the state is holding forgotten money—and how important it is to check if some of it belongs to you.

Everyday expenses are through the roof. Tariffs don’t help either. Prices are up, but help’s still out there. Explore your options today!

Colorado’s Fast-Track Relief for Residents

Colorado is modernizing its approach. Unlike traditional methods that require residents to search and claim their funds, the state is sending out checks directly.

It’s a powerful reminder that proactive government processes can make a real difference, especially as cost-of-living pressures rise.
